Design Requirements:
The plot of this residential development is located on a steep hill in Dora, one of the wine producing villages in Limassol Cyprus. The design should include the use of traditional materials and forms so that it blends seamlessly with the surrounding nature and traditional houses which are located on the hill above.
The clients requested for a design which incorporates two bedrooms, an Annex Floor to house guests and large living spaces and kitchen. M&E (solar panels, water tanks etc.) should not be visible from any point along the road.
Design Approach:
The footprint of the proposed design follows the shape of the plot in order to utilize all the building coefficient within the available area. The form however is inspired by the surrounding cultivation terraces (which have been formed to cultivate on hills).
As the form follows the two angles of the hill so does the roof which covers all exterior living spaces and M&E installations. The angles on the roof allow for openings to the South so that natural sunlight can penetrate through the building to the living spaces.
